Cincinnati wins GMMVC Championship. The Bearcats, who entered Championship play as the #2 seed, won all their matches in two sets as the claimed their third conference championship. Cincinnati had won back-to-back championships in 2003 and 2004.

Marquette surprises higher seeds to win M10VC Championship. The Golden Eagles entered bracket play as the 8th seed. After a two set sweep of Ball State, the Eagles went three sets in each victory as they defeated #1 seed UW-Oshkosh, #4 seed Notre Dame and #3 seed Lakeland on their way to the crown. The Marquette had last claimed the conference championship in 2004, and their victory put an end to UW-Oshkosh's 4-year conference reign.
